Sun

Here is my first (and second) attempt to capture some sun spots from the currently being commissioned Ewelme Observatory. Although I had monitored sunspots before using the Dobsonian scope using a Mylar sheet filter, I decided if I was going to do more of this work, I ought to get something a bit more robust which would fit the 8" Skywatcher Newtonian within the dome. This is the initial result using a Thousand Oaks filter.

These pictures were taken on 4th March 2013, on the first sunny day of the year, although there was still a thin covering of misty cloud probably preventing good contrast.

The videos were taken through a web cam.

I'm sure I can do better as the Sping and Summer progresses
